Monarchs in the NHL: 12/22 – 12/29

Teddy Purcell

The Edmonton Oilers forward picked up a goak in the team’s 5-3 loss on Saturday to the Calgary Flames. He registered six shots on net in the contest.

Martin Jones

The San Jose Sharks goaltender picked up the loss on Monday night against the Colorado Avalanche. He gave up five goals and made 20 saves.

Jonathan Quick

On Tuesday night, Quick surrendered just two goals to the Edmonton Oilers in a 5-2 victory for the Los Angeles Kings. He made 44 saves.

Quick led the Kings to a shutout of the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night where he made 27 saves in a 5-0 victory. The Saturday before, Quick defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-3. He made 27 saves in the victory and gave up just the three goals.

Alec Martinez

The defenseman picked up an assist, was a +1, and notched three shots on net in the Kings 5-0 win on Monday night. Martinez had another assist in the Saturday victory over the Coyotes.

Tyler Toffoli

Toffoli had the biggest game of the week for any Monarch alum. On Monday night he helped lead the Kings to their 5-0 win over Vancouver when he scored a hat trick. He had seven shots on net. Toffoli scored again on Tuesday night as well. He leads the NHL at a +22 overall on the year.

Dustin Brown

Brown scored one of the Kings’ four goals scored on Saturday night in the 4-3 victory over the Coyotes. He scored again on Tuesday night and picked up two assists in the Kings’ thrashing of the Oilers, the assist coming on the first goal of the season for Dwight King, another former Monarch. It was Brown’s fourth goal of the season and he now has 14 points on the season overall.

Dwight King

In the Kings’ 5-2 win over Edmonton on Tuesday night, King contributed two points, a goal and an assist. It was his first game back in the 2015-2016 season.

Jake Muzzin

The former Monarchs’ defenseman was also a part of the Kings’ offensive attack on Tuesday night, picking up an assist.
