Center Al Horford and the Boston Celtics have agreed to a four-year, $113M deal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

It seemed as if Horford was going to re-up with the Atlanta Hawks on a max deal. According to Woj, the Hawks carried most of the momentum in the final moments and believed a deal was imminent after Horford dropped the demand of a true max deal.

The two sides however could not come to terms on a deal and were a reported $6M apart.

Horford was a key contributor in the Celtics NBA Playoff exit last season beating the green in 6 games as a member of the Atlanta Hawks. The 2016 All Star averaged 15.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and shot 34.4% from three last season.

Signing a free agent of Horford’s caliber is rare for Boston and could go a long way in impressing free agent Kevin Durant who the Celts met with earlier today in the Hamptons.
